CLASS OF: 2004 SCHOOL: Neuqua Valley HS, IL HEIGHT AND WEIGHT: 6'2 POSITION: Power Forward 03-04 RATINGS: #45 (BS) 02-03 RATINGS: #40 (ASGR) ACADEMICS: Yes STATUS: Signed with Purdue 11/17/03 AAU TEAM:
Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton plays center for her high school team, yet will fill
more of the small to power forward roles in college. She has a great shot
out ot the perimeter and the strength to hit from beyond the arc. Definitely
an area of her game she will need to work on to help stretch defenses in
college. A rock-steady personality who looks to become a great leader for
the Boilermakers. Multi-dimensional enough to pull double-doubles in scoring and
rebounds, while adding at least a few to the statistical categories of steals,
assists and blcoked shots. Will benefit the team by adding an athletic player
who can defend post players, yet outrun most back to the offensive end.
Wisdom-Hylton averaged 13.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 5.5 steals and 3.5
blocked shots as a junior. Neuqua Valley finished the season 26-4 with a 72-67 loss
to Naperville Central in overtime in the Class AA Naperville Central sectional final.
The game was actually won by Neuqua Valley, but an official waved off what would have
been the winning basket at the end of regulation. The replay clearly showed the shot
was good. She was selected by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association to the
all-state team, invited by USA Basketball to the Developmental Camp, and attended the
Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis.
As a sophomore, Wisdom-Hylton averaged 14.4 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists,
5.2 steals and 4.3 blocked shots. Neuqua Valley finished the season 30-6 with a third
place finish in the Illinois Class AA state finals.
As a freshman, Wisdom-Hylton averaged 10.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.9 steals and 3.5
blocked shots. Neuqua Valley finished the season 30-6 with a second place finish in the
Illinois Class AA state finals. They lost the finals to Fenwick, then led by future
Purdue player Erin Lawless. Both Lawless and Wisdom-Hylton were named to the all-state
tournament team.
Wisdom-Hylton considered local universities such as Illinois, Northwestern and Marquette,
as well as getting attention from Connecticut and Duke. Following visits to the three
locals and a couple visits to Purdue, she gave an oral commitment to Purdue on August
24, 2003. She signed her letter-of-intent on November 17, 2003 during the early signing
period.
Purdue head coach Kristy Curry..."Lindsay brings size and athleticism both
inside and out. She has the ability to score in a lot of ways and is a great
passer. I think she has that uncanny ability that very few have to really make
those around her better. Her high school program is outstanding, and she
brings a confidence that will be a huge asset for our program." (November
17, 2003)
Old Gold Free Press scouting report from the 2003 Nike Camp..."Has a smooth
shot from anywhere, and her play can be described as effortless in the sense
she makes everything look so easy. Can play the three or four position and has
a solid basketball body. She is always in motion on the court. Against the
Sparks, Lindsay quickly established that she has good shooting form from the
edges of the paint. Later, she showed that her range extends to the arc, and
also scored by taking the ball to the rack. She capped her afternoon by making
a steal and bouncing a pass to Amanda Thompson for a layup. On Thursday, she
continued to show off her power moves to the goal. Although one such move
landed Wisdom-Hylton too far underneath to score, her awkward attempt landed
in the hands of Courtney Paris, who proceeded to convert the opportunity.
Near the end of the first half, Lindsay made a nice hustle play by knocking
a pass away before chasing the ball down. I now see why she’s so high on so
many Purdue fans’ wish lists." (July 31, 2003)
Old Gold Free Press scouting report from the 2002 Nike Camp..."A pleasant
surprise. Nice athletic post who can block shots. Runs the floor very well
for someone of her height." (August 4, 2002)
