Purdue Men's Basketball Recruiting

Lee Lampley

School Chicago St. Francis De Sales
	Height and Weight 6'7 ???lbs
	Position Power/Small Forward
	Ratings ---
	Academically Eligible Yes
	Status Western Kentucky

  ** Spiece/AAU Run & Slam All-Star Classic May 5-7 West Lafayette

Lampley is a good rebounder and played a majority of the game
in the paint. A decent recruit that should grow a little in his senior
year. He didn't hit any three's, but it looks like he would be better
suited at the power forward position. Good scrapper under the basket.

7-03-95...6'7" Lee Lampley will be striving for excellence this week
at the Adidas ABCD camp in Teaneck, N.J. The junior will be matched up
against some of the best players in the nation and he is anxious to see
he compares.
One player Lampley could be pitted against is Peoria Richwoods' 6-6
Mike Robinson, arguably the state's best prospect. Robinson recently made
an oral commitment to Purdue which wasn't good news for Lampley. He was
considering Purdue, too. "Robinson is going to Purdue and he plays at my
position," Lampley said. "I have to wait it out and see what happens.
Purdue was one of my favorite choices. Now I have to look at my options."
"He has worked hard," says his coach. He runs with football players
on the inclines on the drawbridges on 95th street. He lifts weights and
takes 100 freethrows and 200 perimeter shots every morning at Jesse Owens
Park. He's also an academic qualifier. With all these qualities, Lee's stock
figures to rise in the next few weeks. Some recruiters may have overlooked
him because he plays in the post at DeSales rather than small forward, the
position he will play in college.

11-7-95...Wondering what was up with Lampley, I placed a call to
Coach Moore at St. Francis De Sales and spoke to him for a few minutes.
He stated that Lampley has been high on Purdue for a long time and was
disappointed to hear they were not interested in Lee anymore. Moore
stated he has the utmost respect for Keady's program and said that Gene
Keady is highly regarded in Chicago. Moore stated that although Lampley
is a quality player, he was too small to play 4 at Purdue and too big for
the 3 position. Lampley is said to be considering Western Kentucky,
Drake, Bradley and Akron and plans on signing early to one of those
schools.

*	4-29-96...It was announced during the Chicago City/Suburban
* All-Star game that Lampley will attend Western Kentucky.
