02-08-00...Another top junior wing forward has surfaced with Purdue on his list. Ranked by some as a top twenty player nationally, 6'6 Josh Pace from Griffin, GA is getting plenty of attention. Josh is averaging 20.7 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. Purdue is among an early list of schools that also includes Alabama, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Texas. Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina may also still be in the race. Pace works hard on both ends of the floor, and benefits from plenty of top-rate summer competition. He traveled to France last summer with the Georgia Elite AAU team to compete in the 1999 World Amateur Basketball Championship. The team would only manage two wins in the tournament, but made an offensive statement by having the highest scoring average of any team in the tournament. Georgia Elite was the youngest team in the tournament with six sophomores, two juniors, three seniors, and no college players -- playing against college freshmen and European professionals. Georgia Elite head coach Linzy Davis said of Pace's performance in the tournament, "Josh was a key player for us. He has great versatility. You can use him in so many situations and positions."
