Beth Lapaich is a former LaPorte star who signed with Butler
out of high school. She later transferred to Purdue as a student and
was invited to be a walk-on at the end of last season. In high school,
Lapaich finished the 95-96 season ranked as the state's #4 scorer and
was named to the Indiana All-Star team. She averaged 26.7 points per
game as a senior, scoring a season high 37 points in one contest. She
also tied that season for the state record in rebounds in one game,
26 against South Bend Clay on 11/20/95. Her strengths are her shooting
and scoring abilities, and she hopes to improve her aggressiveness
when she joins the Boilers in 98-99.
A Co-Rec player when she got to Purdue, she began playing in
open gym with some of the players. Already familiar with Connie Murdock
and Mackenzie Curless from high school ball, she began spending some
time with the team. The staff later rewarded her effort by inviting her
to be a walk-on for the 98-99 season.
Beth is a Communications major, and will have three years of
eligibility beginning in the 98-99 season.
