I also agree for the most part...most players do not want to redshirt although it is a great opportunity to get another year of a free education. I still think it is a debatable point since a player like France would have benefitted from having more time to learn the system and (although it is tough to forcast) a player like Clark could really focus on learning the defensive side of the game, building strength, amongst other things.
If a player is truly blocked at a position...there is some value in looking strategically at other options to see how they would best serve and be served.
