Redshirts in 08-09?

It seems like a good year to work on redshirting one or two players next year. In my mind, redshirting is a must to get Purdue to the very top of women's college basketball. If we can't sign five all-americans each year, then use redshirts to give the almost-all-americans the extra year to compete. Who would benefit the most from a redshirt year? And who might be agreeable to the idea?

I think one of the post players should consider it, among Jones or Guyton. I don't think Woods would benefit at this point. The coaches have already said how fundamentally sound she is, and she does have a year under her to get used to Big Ten play. I think she's better preared for a role next year than Guyton or Jones.

Then you have Poston, Howell and Rayburn. Redshirting here makes me nervous because it almost forces Howell into heavy rotation, and I'm not sure that is a good thing for her body over the course of 30 games.

Or, does Versyp use the depth to grind down opponents using platoon substitution and full-court pressure next year?

Have we heard any suggestion or rumor that the possibility of redshirting has been discussed with any of the incoming players?
