I imagine him sitting in his office, blinds closed. He is there sweating as the FAX buzzes. Around him are stacks of papers, plus boxes of all his personal stuff, handy, so he can grab them on the way out the door. He is ready in case the AD calls.

Each time the phone rings, he looks to see if it is the new AD - he won't answer that call, just in case it is a call to terminate his employment with UM. He won't answer anyway, because it is probably just another kid calling him to quit. Maybe it's the NCAA investigating. "Oh God..." he starts biting his fingernails.

Every once in a while, he pretends... he practices the handshake he should have given Joe Tiller on the field 2 years ago, when he started the classless act he has been running. Then he starts sweating again, thinking about what Hope is going to do to him this year. The hook and lateral plays runs through his head. Then he goes back to watching the FAX. Dark hollows under his eyes. Eyes watery with almost tears. So sad.
