This is a great point. Hope falls under the recruiting rules of an assistant coach when it comes to contact with recruits, but he can present himself as the head coach.
Recruiting is definitely year round and getting earlier and earlier in the year. There's a bunch of schools that already have a number of '09 committs in the bag. Holding onto them for an entire year until signing day is another story....
