Amber Harris needs some time off. She's very sore off the court. On the court she looked great. Incredibly fast with the ball in her hands, a good handler and passer. Most kids her height - you see them and think that if they were two inches shorter nobody would give them a look. No so for Amber - she's a great athlete at any height. IMHO she's a natural wing player, and it would be a mistake to try to plant her under the basket despite her length.Ta'Shia Phillips is a rock - wonderful hands for her size and has the solid foundation needed to plant in the paint. She could start for anybody today.
Dee Dee Jernigan - Amazingly fast slasher. I can see why everyone wants her. Great athlete. She reminds me of Shereka in that her outside shot is quite ackward and the few she attempted didn't go down. At this level she gets to the hoop so well it isn't hurting her. But to excel in college she'll need to work on her jump shot.
Fahkara Malone - Nothing flashy and I can't remember if she even attempted her own shot. But keeps the team running at a very fast level and made good decisions with the ball.
Players of note who did not have a jersey number listed in the coaches pack...
No. 2 on Spiece Gym Rats team - she's by far the fastest player I saw.
No. 24 on The Family - A wonderful 2 guard. Played defense well, hit her open three pointers and made good decisions. A bit less athletic than some others. After the game I saw her in a Vanderbilt basketball T-shirt, so perhaps that's were she's heading (or wants to). (player thought to be Merideth Marsh)
No. 25 on the Family - Really impressed me. She's probably too short to get recruited by Big 10, but could be a great pick up for a MAC team a la Liz Honnegger.
