McDonald's Willowbrook Shootout schedule releasedOne of the premier tournaments in the midwest region featuring top girls teams from Indiana, Illinois and Ohio this year kicks off on January 18th in Willowbrook, IL.
The 2008 McDonald's Shootout, a 16-game three-day event, begins Friday, January 18 at 5:30pm with a matchup between Grant (Ill.) and host Willowbrook (Ill.).
Game two features Indiana Class 4A Kokomo (7-4) against undefeated Warren (Ill.) (14-0). Two of Kokomo's four defeats this season have been in overtime -- one of those to Class 4A No. 4 Carmel -- and they have also lost to Class 2A No. 2 Oak Hill (11-0) and Marion (9-1). The game will feature Stanford signee Sarah Boothe against one of Indiana's better freshmen bigs, 6'3 Kelly Hopkins. While Hopkins will give up a couple inches to Boothe, she is a physically solid post.
Friday ends with the marquee matchup pitting Indiana's No. 1 team and defending 4A state champ South Bend Washington against Illinois AA champ Fenwick. Fenwick's excellent guards, only made better by the recent addition of 5'11 Katlyn Payne, will be a great test for South Bend's Emily Phillips and Skylar Diggins.
Other teams in the shootout featuring known players of Purdue interest include Emilee Harmon and Pickerington (Oh.), and Ashley Wilson and Wheeling (Ill.). Local Indiana scorer Maggie Boyer and Lebanon (Ind.) also play a game on day two against Sandburg (Ill.). Boyer is currently wrestling with Purdue signee Brittany Rayburn for the honor of being the state's top scorer.
Tickets for an entire day can be purchased at the door for $7 for adults, $5 and $3 for high school students and younger.
For ticket information call (630) 834-9080, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
