Visitors for WNIT gamePurdue fans were encouraged to again see Indianapolis sophomore Kelly Faris take in another game in Mackey Arena. The 5'10 wing from Heritage Christian began the year with a double-double against Broad Ripple (23 points, 11 rebounds), and just Saturday night had five points and 12 boards in a blowout win against Shenandoah.
Brittany Rayburn was also in Mackey for the WNIT game against Hartford, plus possibly two additional prospects seen in the area behind the Purdue bench.
Dildine to walk-on
Versyp officially confirmed Brittany Dildine had been invited to walk-on with the basketball team following the end of her volleyball career this winter. Originally from the Lafayette area, Dildine is a 5'9 guard who played for Lafayette Harrison High. Lightly recruited for basketball, she chose the volleyball path and is arguably Purdue's top server -- at least Purdue's most powerful server -- and defensive specialist. Assuming Dave Shondell's squad can stay on course for an NCAA berth (they have lost four straight matches), the NCAA tournament begins November 30th and goes until the final game on December 16th.

Oral commitments now signed
Purdue received all the national letters of intent they were expecting this past week from Lakeshia Mosley, Michelle Clark and Samantha Woods. Comments on each of the players from Coach Versyp have been added to their OGFP player profiles here on the site. To read them, click on the link below to take you to the Recruiting page, then click on the name of each player to access their player profiles.
The fall signing period continues until November 15th, but the staff is not expected to sign any more players this fall. Coach Versyp did say in her weekly news conference that she may use scholarships to sign players in the spring, and mentioned the possibility of using anywhere from one to three scholarships on any position. She said a big post is the priority. If the staff does not receive a re-commitment from Ta'Shia Phillips or another big post in the spring, the staff is already looking at possible 2008 post targets.

Keshia Hines to Louisville
Keshia Hines of Auburn Hills, Mich. has signed with Louisville. Hines chose Louisville over interest from Purdue, Indiana and others. Louisville is also actively recruiting Ta'Shia Phillips, who reopened her recruitment this past spring after orally committing to Purdue as a freshman. Phillips has said she will wait to sign in the spring.
Big Ten Recruiting
We are delaying the addition of Denise Fairbanks to the Indiana list of commitments, due to conflicting information. Information from sources close to Fairbanks originally indicated she had given an oral commitment to the Hoosiers. But in a recent conversation with Illinois Central College head coach Steve Garber, Garber indicated Fairbanks had not committed to Indiana. Garber also indicated at this point it was not determined if the Ohio forward would be a one-year, or two-year junior college player at ICC.
