Purdue head coach Matt Painter has made it no secret he planned to use the two remaining available scholarships for the Class of 2006, and on Saturday he was halfway to doing just that. Purdue received a commitment from 6'3 Bridgton Academy Prep (ME) point guard Keaton Grant.

Grant averaged 18.0 points, six assists and six rebounds a game last season for Bridgton Academy and helped his team to a 23-9 record. Hoop Scoop rates him the nation’s 24th best fifth-year player.

In high school at Gateway High in Kissimmee (FL), Grant was the first three-time Osceola Conference Player of the Year, averaging 24.2 points as a senior. he averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists as a junior.

Grant chose Purdue over Washington, Boston College and Tennessee. Grant signed with Missouri last year, but did not qualify academically and took the prep school route. He originally chose Missouri over attention from Penn State, Tennessee, South Florida and Georgia Tech.

Below are a couple links to a conference player-of-the-year article from his senior year in high school, and a photo from Bridgton Academy.
