Big Ten Recruiting
Ohio State has received their first commitment for the class of 2007 from 6'1 junior post player Sarah Schulze of Anna High (OH). Schulze was named to the All-Ohio Division III first team this season after averaging 23 points and 11 rebounds. The multi-sport athlete also won the Division III state cross country title as a sophomore, won the state 800 meters as a freshman, and finished second that same year in the 1600. Schulze chose Ohio State over Vanderbilt and Penn State. She plays summer ball with the Dayton Lady HoopStars along with fellow Ohio State commitment Maria Moeller. Moeller's mother works at the same Honda engine plant as Sarah's father.
Wisconsin has a true point guard. Rae Lin D’Alie of Waterford (WI), a 5'3 senior point, has committed to the Badgers over interest from UW-Parkside, Winona State, Central Florida and Marshall. Reportedly, three of the NCAA first round teams playing in Mackey Arena a couple weeks ago also made recent phone inquiries too, including Purdue, UCLA and Ohio State. D'Alie, who averaged 15 points, 6.4 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game for this past season, helped lead Waterford (21-5 overall) to the WIAA Division 1 state title game. Wisconsin is also one of two finalists for Lin Zastrow, a 6-4 junior forward at Jefferson (WI). Zastrow is also considering Marquette.
We are updating Penn State's addition of Meredith Monroe to their 2006 class. The 6'3 forward from Olney, MD helped Our Lady of Good Counsel High School to a No. 15 national ranking as a junior, and repeat Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Championships and city titles.
