McDonald's Shootout loaded for 2007As the 2006 McDonald's Shootout wrapped up on Monday in the suburban Chicago area, word from tournament organizer Jim O'Boye is that three of Purdue's top guard prospects will be playing next year. The tournament has received early commitments from South Bend Washington, featuring freshman Skylar Diggins, Lebanon and sophomore Maggie Boyer, and Attica and sophomore Brittany Rayburn.
More visitors in Mackey
According to sources and an article in the Journal and Courier, several additional prospects were in attendance for the Ohio State win on Sunday the 1st. We mentioned 2008 guards Brittany Rayburn and Maggie Boyer, but Purdue also has unofficial visits from sophomore Alex Guyton of Bloomington, and a trio of freshmen including South Bend's Skylar Diggins, Indianapolis' Lauren Meadows, and Carmel's Lauren McRoberts. Signees Amber Harris and Dee Dee Jernigan were also behind the bench, as well as junior center Ta'Shia Phillips. Unconfirmed reports suggest Purdue might have also received a visit from Maconaquah sophomore Deja Mattox.
Numbers for Malone
Through twelve games this season, her first season playing the point at Evansville Memorial, FahKara is averaging 20.6 points per game. She also leads her team in assists (4.3) and steals (4.8). And although Malone is the smallest player on her team, she leads Memorial in rebounding at 4.1 per game.
Ramblings
"She controlled the tempo. She controlled everything. That's the way you expect somebody who's going to Purdue to play, and she's got the senior leadership that we don't have." -- Marion head coach Jerry Freshwater on the play of Dee Dee Jernigan.
