    Watching the Class of 2007

While it was, and still is to some extent, up in the air as to whether the Purdue staff would offer more players in the Class of 2007 to compliment their only 2007 commitment at the moment in Ta'Shia Phillips, it is clear the staff is continuing to scout the class and keep an eye on a few players of interest.

Kelly Curry made a trip to Ohio on Wednesday to see 6'1 junior swing player Kristin Daugherty of River View (OH). She finished the game with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.

The staff is also said to be showing interest in 5'6 point guard Bianca Ward of Peoria Richwoods (IL), 6'4 center Amy Jaeschke from New Trier (IL) and Ohio 6'4 post Jantel Lavender.

We will be adding Daugherty, Jaeschke and Ward to our 2007 prep updates.

Numbers are in on Brittany Rayburn

According to statistics posted in this week's Journal and Courier, sophomore Brittany Rayburn is making a case for area Player of the Year. Rayburn is averaging 19.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.8 steals for a team who only allows opponents a very low 36.4 points per game. Brittany is shooting 72-percent from the freethrow line. Attica is currently the No. 5 team in Class A.

    Honor for Boyer

Lebanon sophomore Maggie Boyer was named the Indianapolis Star Area Player of the Week last week following a pair of wins, including a career-high 37-point performance against Crawfordsville.

    McDonald's Shootout/Chicagoland Prep Classic schedule

If you look at the high school schedules posted in the Harris and Jernigan profiles, you will see both are playing in the 16th annual McDonald's Shootout/Chicagoland Prep Classic that begins on January 13th. The schedule for the event has been released, and also features Indiana teams from Carmel (Class 4A No. 1), Kokomo (Class 4A No. 3), and South Bend St. Joseph (Class 3A No. 1). Ramblings

"She shot the lights out, I’m surprised the lights are still hanging. Their best player played like an All-American tonight. She played awesome and did everything." -- Crawfordsville coach Darren Haas after Maggie Boyer scored 37 points against them.

"She's grown up a lot. That was the first thing I noticed. As a person, she's matured, and that's carried over to the basketball court." -- Second year Pike head coach Reggie White, a former assistant at North Central for seven seasons, on the play of Amber Harris.
