Natasha Bogdanova had 11 of her team's 24 total rebounds on Saturday but it was not enough to help Russia avoid a little revenge from Serbia & Montenegro.
Russia began the game in good shape as they jumped out to a 35-28 lead at halftime. But Serbia & Montenegro showed composure in the final two quarters of play, outscoring Russia 52-30 to win the game 78-65.
Bogdanova had her first double-double of the event with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Bogdanova shot 3-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the freethrow line. She also recorded an assist, a steal, three blocked shots and only one turnover in 31 minutes.
In the other semifinal game, Team USA cruised past China 99-68. China was outrebounded 35 to 21, and despite fouling USA's Nicky Anosike out of the game and placing three other US players in foul trouble, China only got to the line a total of 12 times.
Russia will play China for the bronze on Sunday, while the United States plays Serbia & Montenegro for the gold.
