With a 44-point win over Puerto Rico on Tuesday, Russia has advanced to the FIBA U19 World Championship Quarterfinals.
As most of Team Russia's starters rested, including Purdue's Natasha Bogdanova, Russia still cruised to an 87-43 win over Puerto Rico on Wednesday. Bogdanova played only four minutes, scoring six points and grabbing two rebounds.
Russia's loss to the United States stands as their only loss through preliminary play, and they share a 4-1 record in the Quarterfinals with Australia and China. Korea, Spain and Hungary are also in the Quarterfinals with 3-2 records, as well as a 2-3 Serbia & Montenegro team. The United States remains the tournament's only undefeated team.
Russia will face Spain Friday for a chance to advance to Saturday's Semifinals against the winner of the Australia and Serbia & Montenegro game.
Over the five preliminary round games, Bogdanova is second on Team Russia in points (12.2 ppg) and rebounds (6.2 rpg).
