Jodi Howell updatePurdue recruit Jodi Howell has been released to resume basketball action after knee surgery ended her junior season. Howell has been instructed to only go at full practice speed on an every-other-day basis, and watch for any swelling that might develop. There has been no indication of swelling since her release. On her "off" days, she practices her shooting only.
Howell was recently picked to the 2004 Indiana Junior All-Star team, but will have to miss the first scrimmage against the Senior All-Stars in June due to a commitment with USA Basketball. She will be attending the USA Developmental Camp in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 16-20. The camp featured 48 of the nation's top high school players in the class of 2005.
Jodi has also again been invited to play in the Nike All-American Camp this July.
Sabrina Keys to transfer
Sophomore forward Sabrina Keys has asked for, and been granted, a release from Purdue. Keys appeared in four games this season and averaged about five minutes in each outing before being suspended from the team following the first semester.
Keys came to Purdue in a battle with Texas, but also considered Michigan, Ohio State and Southern Cal. It is speculated that she will transfer to a school closer to her California home.
The Keys transfer frees up a scholarship for the staff to offer the class of 2005. Purdue has three scholarships available for the class of 2005, with one already promised to Alexandria's Jodi Howell. The staff has a strong need for post players, but can also use a point guard in the class of 2005.
