Southwestern Illinois is 9-2 going into their three week Christmas layoff, and will not restart until January 7th when they travel to Mineral Area College. Their two loses both came to ranked NCJAA teams, Allegany (No. 11) and Southwest Missouri State University - West Plains (No. 21).

On December 7th against Three Rivers, Southwestern Illinois squeaked out a 82-79 win on a coast-to-coast basket with 4.5 seconds remaining from Bryant Dillon. With the score tied at 79 each, Dillon ran the floor, made the shot, and also got fouled on the play. He hit the freethrow to lead to the final three point margin. He finished with 15 points and five steals.
