The Gary Westside team this season will feature a 6'9 move-in, Jamil Tucker. Tucker is already drawing interest from most major midwest programs, including Purdue, Michigan, Illinois, Southern Illinois, Iowa and DePaul.
Westside head coach John Boyd lists him as a guard, and the 2003-04 Area Preview from the NW Indiana Times has him listed as a potential all-area point guard by the end of the season. However, there is a lot of quality height in the Region this year, including Westside's first opponent of the season, Lake Central. Lake Central is the preseason No. 1 team in the Region, and has a frontline of 6'10, 6'8 and 6'7. Sean Smith is a double-digit scorer and rebounder, but will need some help. Tucker can add rebounding help immediately.
