PURDUE WOMENS BASKETBALL RECRUITING:
Three prospects make decisions

Three prospects on Purdue scouting list have given oral commitments to other programs within the past week.

Lauren Lacey, a 6'2 post player from Chicago Heights (IL), has committed to Minnesota following a recent visit. She averaged 18.5 points and 6.3 rebounds last season and shot 65 percent from the floor while leading Marian Catholic to a 29-4 record and the quarterfinals of the Illinois Class AA state championship.

Lacey was the first of five top-rated players in the Chicago area from the Class of 2004 to make a decision. Still on the board are 6'3 Candace Parker of Naperville Central (IL), 6'2 Lindsey Wisdom-Hylton of Neuqua Valley (IL), 6'3 Natasha Williams of Niles West (IL) and 6'2 Caprice Smith of Trinity (IL).

Making a decision to stay close to home, Marscilla Packer, a 5'10 junior wing guard from Pickerington (OH), has committed to Ohio State. She was being scouted by a host of top-flight Division I programs including Purdue, UCONN, Duke and Tennessee.

Packer averaged 21.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, three steals and two assists a game as a junior, breaking a school scoring record -- boys and girls -- with a 46 point performance in February.

Lastly, power forward Tiffany Thompson of Trinity Valley Community College chose Louisiana Tech over Purdue and Oklahoma. Thompson averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 points a game, while shooting 56 percent from the field. She was the No. 1 rated JUCO power forward in the nation.

TVCC teammate Lakiste Barkus also signed with the Lady Techsters
