Marlboro (11-1) limited nationally-ranked No. 1 Christ the King (12-1) to eight points in the final quarter of play to pull off a come from behind victory, 59-53.
Marlboro, trailing by nine points with five minutes remaining, cranked up the pressure despite tired legs. They scored 19 points in that five minute stretch, including four on freethrows from Brina Pollack.
Pollack finished the game as Marlboro's second-leading scorer with 15. She also surpassed the 1,000-point career mark with a bucket 35 seconds into the game. Pollack scored all of her points from within the arc, including a 5-for-6 performance from the freethrow line.
Chakhia Cole, a 5'9 junior, led Marlboro with 21. Christ the King was led by Shay Doron's 16 points.
The Ashbury Press named Brina Pollack their Player of the Week, also including her game-high 14 point performance last Tuesday in a 58-33 win over Manalapan.
