Bouncing back from a six point, six rebound performance against nationally ranked Lynwood, Indi Johnson returned to form with 21 points and 12 rebounds as Narbonne (8-6, 2-0) remained undefeated in conference play with a 70-34 win over Washington. Johnson also added three steals and two blocked shots.
Washington would be Narbonne's first home game of the season, after 13 consecutive games on the road, only two of which held in the state of California. Of Narbonne's 24 scheduled games this season, only four will be played in their home gym.
Just a week earlier, Johnson was not having such an easy time scoring. Lynwood (11-1) stretched a six-point halftime lead into a 61-45 win utilizing a five guard lineup at times during the game to force turnovers and hold Narbonne to 16-of-59 (.271) from the field. Narbonne point guard Camille LeNoir led the team with 15 points and six assists.
Yet the night before Lynwood, Narbonne made very easy work of Gardena, 83-37. Camille LeNoir again led Narbonne with 20 points, eight assists and six steals, while Indi Johnson added 18 points and nine rebounds.
Narbonne goes back out on the road to Miami-Florida, taking on South Broward (Friday) and Miami Edison (Saturday). South Broward boasts four Division I signees, including 6'1 Miami-bound post player Lamese James, and is the defending Florida 5A state champion. Saturday brings the defending Florida 6A state champion Miami-Edison, and 6'3 Nike All-American junior post Sylvia Fowles. Fowles was one of 13 selections to the Old Gold Free Press All-Nike Camp team this past July.
