Indi Johnson off to solid startThrough seven games and a 4-3 start to the season, Indi Johnson is second in scoring and rebounding for Narbonne with 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She is shooting 27-of-46 (.587) from the field, 18-of-28 (.643) from the line, and has missed the only perimeter shot she has taken this year.
Narbonne is currently in the midst of the 2002 Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix and Tempe, Arizona. The 72 team field competes over three days in nine divisions.
Narbonne dropped their first game of the tournament, a 49-37 loss to No. 3 Mountain View (UT). Johnson led Narbonne with 10 points. The loss put the team into the loser's bracket to face No. 13 Highlands Ranch (CO) on Friday. Narbonne won 57-55 behind Johnson's 14 points. Saturday brings a matchup for 5th place with Oregon City (OR), the nation's No. 5 team.
While Narbonne's schedule continues to be brutal, positives can be found in the recent loss and win. Mountain View had beaten their first six opponents this season by an average of 32 points per game. Narbonne came within 12. And Highlands Ranch was holding their opponents to just 47 points. Narbonne scored 57 on them.
