Carpice Smith, a 6-foot-2 forward from No. 5 Trinity (IL), led her team with 23 points as they knocked off No. 8 Buffalo Grove (IL) 67-63. The Buffalo Grove game was a must win to restore the confidence of a team beaten in its season opener on Tuesday. Smith scored 22 points and added four rebounds in the 58-53 loss to No. 18 Maine West.
