From day one of this site, I have never been away from it for more than 5 days, and that only occurred on one occasion. So you can see my hesitation to go on an extended vacation for two weeks. But that is what is about to happen. I will be gone, sans internet access, from July 31st until August 12th. Believe me, it hurts me more than it hurts you. However, while I am off with the feeling everyday that I left the proverbial toaster on, I have made arrangements to keep you guys informed of any major news that might break during that time. I have asked my friend Mike Pegram, or Peegs for those of you who already know him, of the Indiana recruiting site to handle any major news related to Purdue recruiting in the meantime. He was happy to do it, although it shouldn't be much of a stretch since we have similar prospects on our lists. In case of rumored verbals, go to his site for confirmation. His site is listed on my links page. A large handful of other Purdue fans from the MrHoops forum that is linked off of my main page will also be posting links to articles on the forum. Check out the forum for other news and Purdue conversation. Upon my return, I will work on gathering all the links posted on the forum and all the new recruiting info to get the page back up to date. Good luck, and here's hoping you guys have lots to talk about in my absence. See you in August.
One last bit of Purdue news before I leave...Purdue officially announced the hiring of Southern Idaho's Jim Thrash as a recruiting assistant on Wednesday. He will join Frank Kendrick as the other major off-campus recruiter. I'm not sure how I can best put my excitement into words about this hire, but I will say this...if prospects and recruits LOVED former assistant Bruce Weber...prospects and recruits will RAVE over Coach Thrash. He is an aggressive recruiter with an eye for talent, a nose for potential, and a strong committment to the athletic and academic lives of young basketball players. He will get started immediately, and look for him soon in a gym near you.
