Northwestern head coach Kevin O'Neill is looking to the state of Minnesota for new recruits, and has reportedly offered three prospects in the junior class. 6'5 Shane Schilling from Minnetonka, Minnesota is rated nationally in the Top100 and was named to the AP All-State team. The 200-pound forward averaged 27 points and 8 rebounds as a junior. Schilling also reportedly has offers from Minnesota, Iowa and Iowa State on the table. O'Neill has also offered another forward from the Minneapolis/St. Paul general vicinity, 6'7 215-pound Michael Bauer from Hastings. The third player is guard Ben Johnson, a 6'2 all-stater from De La Salle, who averaged 20 points, 5 boards and 3 steals. Northwestern has four scholarships available for the class of 1999.
