The Purdue men have two scholarships to offer this years junior class, and speculation is that Jason Gardner and Ricky Wright are the two priorities at the moment. Purdue is still in heavy contact with both John Stewart and Gavin Groninger, but neither one has been offered a scholarship.
Illinois transfer Awvee Storey is headed for Arizona State, and it is rumored that Mosi Barnes might end up at Eastern Michigan. The Barnes rumor is just that at the moment, a rumor. Another interesting rumor involves 6'8 Charles Kage, who at one time had Purdue on his wish list. After verballing to Eastern Michigan, unconfirmed reports now have him headed to Vincennes Junior College (IN).
The Valpo Crusaders have gone the junior college route to help fill the gap of graduating senior guard Jamie Sykes. 6'3 guard Tarrance Price from Barton County (KS) Community College has signed a letter of intent to become the seventh player in Drew's 98-99 recruiting class. Price averaged just over 12 points, three assists and three steals for Barton, helping the ninth ranked team to a 29-4 record. Described as a "mid-major prospect at the off-guard", Price was named all-conference and was offered by Kansas to join the Jayhawks as an invited walk-on.
