The Boilermaker Recruiting Site passed the 200,000 hit mark this past week. This could not have been possible without the help of all the people that visit the site. This has always been a fan's site, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has ever sent in a rumor, tip, newspaper clipping, link or scouting report. Feel free to email me anything you hear, whether it can be verified or not. Sometimes what seem to be silly rumors help clear up other issues. Since I don't log the addresses of the incoming traffic to the site as some sites do, I have no idea who the 200,000th visitor was. Keep up the great work!
According to WebCounter, the administrator of the counter on the page, our daily traffic in 1998 at one point reached #15 on their tracking charts. That moved our site ahead of "Best Links to Cute Girls" and "Butts-R-Us". There is hope for the internet after all! And before you email me and ask...I'm not telling you how to find "Butts-R-Us"...
Now for some recruiting...along with Marion's Zach Randolph, Purdue also received a visit during the Illinois game from 6'4 guard Gavin Groninger of Plainfield High, just west of Indianapolis. Groninger is a scorer, pouring in many from beyond the perimeter. As of last week, he was the state's #12 scorer at 25.0 ppg, one spot behind incoming Purdue recruit Maynard Lewis. He has a career high of 57 points. Groninger attended the game with members of the Plainfield coaching staff.
Also rumored to be in attendance was Ricky Wright, who East Chicago hopes to get back into the lineup for this weekend's game against Andrean. Wright has been out most of the season with a leg injury.
And it also looks like Jason Gardner was in attendance to see Purdue defeat Indiana in Mackey two weeks ago. Purdue is said to be heavily in the race for Gardner by a few sources. One source indicated Purdue is one of the favorites after all the unofficial visits he has made.
