Add another 7-footer to Purdue's list of junior prospects. Lexington Catholic's 7'1 center Nathan Popp has Purdue on his list, although Purdue may have to overcome some heavy competition from Notre Dame and Kentucky. Notre Dame is getting Lexington Catholic senior David Graves, and may be favored to double-dip in Lexington for his teammate too. Graves ended up at Notre Dame with the help of Micheal Pitino (son of Rick Pitino), who is currently a sophomore in South Bend. Graves said Pitino was important in getting him to consider Notre Dame in the first place. Popp will also take a favorable look at Kentucky when decision time comes around, a team he has been a fan of since childhood.
An interesting comment from Anthony Oates in a recent media report from Prescott Arizona. Oates has been struggling a bit lately, likely a result of double and triple-teaming by his opponents according Roughrider coach Dolph Carroll. But Oates admits the recruiting pressure has been affecting his game. "A lot of schools had been looking at me (including Purdue) and then I didn't hear back from some of them. I tried to block it out but yeah, I was thinking too much," said Oates. The "(including Purdue)" was part of the original blurb in the paper, so it makes one wonder if Purdue is one of the schools that hasn't been in contact with Oates lately.
