Reports from West Coast Hoops indicate Purdue is still beating the bushes for a juco center.
Bakersfield CC 6'10 center Brandon Kurtz reportedly received a call from Purdue at the end of January. Kurtz is averaging 19 points and 12 boards this season and has increased his weight to 260 lbs. He has yet to rule anyone out as he is concentrating on increasing his GPA. Some of the schools being mentioned include UCLA, Hawaii, Purdue, Texas A&M, Colorado, Colorado State, San Diego State, USC, Washington, Oregon and Arizona. He may be favoring staying on the west coast.
Still in the hunt for a spot at Purdue is 6'10 Anthony Oates from Yavapai JC and 6'9 Greg McQuay of Southern Idaho. Oates was recently named by Brick Oettinger as one of the nation's top 15 junior college big men. Oates tallied 21 points and 13 boards in an overtime victory against South Mountain CC last week.
Oettinger also rated incoming center John Allison as the nation's #9 prep center prospect.
