Purdue has been scouting Indianapolis Lawrence North's 7-footer John Stewart and received an unofficial visit from him back in October. Recently, Kokomo High coach Basil Mawbey compared Stewart to former Kokomo 7-footer Dewayne Johns, a kid who got looks from Indiana until he was suspended from basketball his senior season. Johns has recently signed a scholarship offer with Iowa State after spending two seasons at two different junior colleges (Palm Beach Community College and College of Eastern Utah). Johns is currently at 7'2 and 283 pounds. Iowa State coach Tim Floyd has his hands full with a player termed a "project" after seeing only a few minutes last season as a backup center. However, former Iowa State player Kelvin Cato went on to the NBA after seeing no time playing high school basketball.
