Recruiting news from the Chicago Sun-Times...

6'9 Chicago Julian power forward Lance Williams has scheduled visits from Depaul, Illinois, Iowa, UNLV, Missouri and Arkansas.

6'3 Chicago Julian point guard Waitari Marsh will take visits from Tulane, Arkansas, Illinois State, Dayton and Northeastern.

Chicago King teammates 6'6 Anthony Johnson and 6'8 Michael Stewart, rumored for a while to be wanting to go to the same college, both have DePaul, Illinois-Chicago, Miami (Fla.) and Georgetown on their final lists.

Chicago Whitney's 6'5 Quentin Richardson has reportedly eliminated Illinois, Saint Louis, and Marquette from his list, leaving him considering Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan State, Syracuse, UCONN, Minnesota and DePaul. However, Illini sources question the validity of this report.

Chicago Fenwick's Chris Williams looks to be headed to Valparaiso, but still includes Illinois State, Loyola and Northern Illinois among his choices.

    Also, from other sources...

It has been assumed for a while that Eugene Land might want to stay close to home. It now appears "close to home" may mean within 30 statute miles. He is rumored to be choosing now between Cincy and Xavier.

The Rod Thompson saga continues. After getting his eligibility appeal turned down by the IHSA, Rod's parents are now shopping for a home in the Galesburg area. The Galesburg Register-Mail reports that the parents plan to move as soon as housing is available. IHSA director David Fry commented that as soon as the Galesburg Principal or Athletic Director certifies that the move is made, Thompson can immediately gain eligibility to play for Galesburg.
