PURDUE MENS BASKETBALL RECRUITING:
Coaches looking to 1999 and 2000 classes

Having recruits verballed for all the available scholarships that will be available for the 98-99 season, the spring and summer has allowed the coaching staff to make a strong push for what are this years high school sophmore and junior classes while the other schools spend time signing the seniors. The state of Indiana is set to have two outstanding graduating classes back to back in the classes of 1999 and 2000. Here's a preview of the nationally ranked kids from those classes at this point, who will be chased by a host of major programs...

    Player Size School Class
Carlton Baker 6'6 East Chicago Central 99
Martin Brothers 6'7 Indianapolis Arlington 99
Jason Gardner 5'10 Indy North Central 99
    Gavin Groninger 6'5 Plainfield 99
Vincent Hart 6'7 Gary Westside 99
Mariel Harris 6'5 Gary Westside 99
Krunti Hester 6'8 Indy Brebeuf 99
Richard Wright 6'7 East Chicago Central 99
Brody Boyd 5'9 Dugger Union 00
    Brett Buscher 6'7 Chesterton 00
Myron Hodge 6'7 Evansville Evans 00
    Austin Parkinson 6'0 Northwestern 00
    Shane Powers 6'5 Andrean 00
    Zack Randolph 6'7 Marion 00

Purdue has been mentioned with 9 of the above players to my knowledge, but is likely evaluating them all. Purdue will have 2 available scholarships for the Class of 1999 and 5 for the Class of 2000. A player profile on Austin Parkinson will debut within the next two weeks.
