Word from Virginia is that Chauncey Jones has not been given admission to the University of Virginia. On Tuesday, Jones had given word to Purdue that his choice would be Virginia, allowing Purdue to offer a scholarship to Tony Mayfield. Mayfield quickly accepted the offer after being courted by a couple of PAC10 schools. Now it seems that Chauncey Jones has not academically qualified to attend Virginia, and one has to wonder if he would have ever qualified at Purdue. What originally looked like bad news as Jones chose not to attend Purdue, is now looking like more of a blessing. Regardless of the new availability of Jones, Purdue has its point guard signed and now looks to either the high school junior or sophomore classes for the next addition at the point position.
