PURDUE MENS BASKETBALL RECRUITING:
Marcus Green at the Hoosier Shootout

Marcus Green's AAU team finished 3rd place in the Hoosier Shootout after losing to a Cincinnati AAU team 60-57. In the previous game, Green hit 2 free throws in the final 15 seconds to seal the victory. I was able to watch the whole last game and noticed a few things about Green. He is very athletic, has the ability to drive to the basket as well as shoot from the outside, a solid rebounder for his size, and the ability to make big plays on defense. On the other hand, he had a couple careless mistakes and sometimes lost his man getting back on defense. He just needs more coaching on defense and he will be a fine player.

I was able to talk to Coach Martin during Green's 2nd game of the day, he had just arrived at the Hoosier Shootout that morning to watch Green and Harangody (sp?) from the Reebok camp in NJ. He talked about how big the 2006 class is for Purdue, because it will contain nearly half the team and it will give Painter a chance to get a lot of new players into his system. There were many MAC coaches and small IN college coaches at the camp as well.

Here are Marcus Green's Stats from the 3rd game today which his team lost 60-57:

    Points: 12
    2pt fgs: 3-5
    3pt fgs: 2-6
    All fgs: 5-11
    FTs: 0-0
    Rebounds: 5
    Assists: 2
    Steals: 1
    Blocks: 1
