PURDUE MENS BASKETBALL:
Purdue vs Harlem Globetrotters Recap

Globetrotters 83 Boilermakers 64

Just back from tonight's exhibition game versus the Harlem Globetrotters. Purdue played very well in the 1st half, especially on defense. The offense still needs some work, but the improved defense is what I was hoping to see. Purdue was just outmanned inside as the globetrotters had several guys 6'10 or taller and over 250 lbs, with two of them in the game at all times. Buscher played a great 1st half and Booker played a good game other than getting in foul trouble. Lowe played around 5-7 minutes and scored 3 points. Kilgore looked a lot better defensively, but Deane still has some worked to do. Even though we lost by 19 points, I would not say this is bad for the team as the globetrotters are professionals and are generally going to beat any college team they play. If we lost our next exhibition game to Nike Elite, then we should start getting a little worried. Matt Carroll, Chris Hartley, and Darius McDougal (sp?) were not dressed tonight as they will be red-shirting this season.

On a side note, my seats are right behind the opponents bench in row 2 and I sit behind the president and vice president of the Gene Pool. I talked to the vice president before the game and he said they are looking for any ideas for cheers or anything else for the gene pool to do. I would like for some of the knuckleheads on the board to post ideas for the Gene Pool, I always hear people complaining about the gene pool not being loud enough or not having cheers or whatever, so now is your chance to step up and suggest something and I will get the information to the right people.

I might not be able to attend the next exhibition game, but I will have another column after the Miami (Ohio) game.
