Indiana's Finest 14U win AAU National Championship

The Indiana's Finest 14U squad coached by Matt Arnold, has won the 2005 AAU National Championship in the 14U group. Attica's Brittany Rayburn, a 5'10 rising sophomore, and Hamilton Southeastern's Courtney Osbourne, a 5'9 freshman, were named to the 14U All-Tournament team. According to sources, Rayburn is already getting attention from Big Ten programs.

    Big Ten Commitments

The University of Minnesota has gone from zero 2006 commitments to three within the past two weeks. The Gophers first received commitments from two in-state recruits, then just today followed up with and Illinois player ranked as the nation's 56th-best prospect by All Star Girls Report.

Kelly Mullaney of Breck, MN, a 5'8 guard, averaged 17.9 points per game as a junior. She was named Wisconsin Class AA first team this past season, and was named to the Wisconsin all-tournament team as a sophomore.

Joining her with the Gophers will be AAU teammate Breanna Salley of St. Francis, MN. A 5-10 wing player, Salley averaged 21.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game and also led her team in assists and blocked shots. Salley was also being recruited by California, Colorado, Marquette, Nevada-Las Vegas, Northwestern and Oregon.

Then today, Minnesota received a commitment from 5'10 Brittany McCoy, rated the 56th-best prospect in the Class of 2006 by All Star Girls Report. McCoy made the IBCA all-state third team last year averaging 12 points and four assists for Loyola High (IL). She is an adidas Top Ten Camp All-Star, who chose Minnesota over Kansas, Illinois and Northwestern.

Illinois received their first 2006 commitment this week from 6'3 post player Jenna Smith of Bloomington Kennedy (MN). Smith led Kennedy to the 4A Minnesota state title. Smith plays summer ball for the SUGAA Storm (Summit University Girls Athletic Association). She averaged 20.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game as a junior.

The University of Wisconsin received yet another commitment, the latest from 6'4 post Brittany Heins of Postville, Iowa. Heins averaged 25 points, 14.9 rebounds and 4.2 steals per game her junior season before tearing her right anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in January. She was shooting 68-percent from the floor.

Late news has Hamilton Southeastern 2006 shooter Beth Marshall making a commitment to Northwestern University. The 5'5 rising senior plays for the Family team that just won the Nike National Championship, and is AAU teammates with Purdue recruits Amber Harris, FahKara Malone and Ta'Shia Phillips. Marshall averaged nine points and five assists as a junior.
