PURDUE WOMENS BASKETBALL RECRUITING:

    Arnika Brown reduces list

In the Louisville Courier-Journal's preseason preview, junior Arnika Brown is said to have reduced her list to ten. Purdue is missing from the new list, but Western Kentucky, Louisville, Kentucky, Connecticut, Tennessee, Louisiana State, Michigan State, Duke, North Carolina and Florida are still on it.

    Amber Harris siting

Amber Harris was put into use during Purdue's home game Sunday against the IPFW Mastedons. When a ball stuck between the rim and the backboard, and no one was capable of dislodging it, Harris came out of the stands and poked it free.

    Ramblings

Our latest installment of ramblings heard from a variety of sources, of interest to Boilermaker fans.

"There's a shortage of skilled point guards and players with height."

A statement by Mike Flynn of the Blue Star Report on the shortage of quality tall players in the class of 2005. It makes Purdue's haul of two 6'4 post players (Stephanie Helgeson and Danielle Campbell) even that much more impressive. In a year of heavier competition for fewer quality players of height, Purdue gains two commitments.

"You can't say enough about that kid. I've heard a lot about her. It's one this to hear about her, but another to actually see her play."

Postgame commentary from Brebeuf Coach Kendall Kreinhagen on Evansville Memorial point guard Fahkara Malone. Malone lit Brebeuf up for 28 points in the 2004 Class 3A semi-state.
