PURDUE WOMENS BASKETBALL RECRUITING:
Recruiting Update: Wisdom-Hylton the best ever?

Wisdom-Hylton among best ever in Illinois

She has not dunked a basketball. She does not average 30 points a game. Heck, she does not even average 20 points per game. Yet Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton could be the best all-around player in Illinois state history. And the statistics back that claim up.

Wisdom-Hylton is 25 assists away from being the first girl in Illinois state history to reach the 500 mark in five statistical categories -- points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocked shots. She currently has more than 1,600 points, 1,100 rebounds, 650 steals, 500 blocks and 475 assists. As long as she stays on her current assists average of close to four per game, she will reach 500 career assists.

And if Lindsay gets 29 more steals this season, she will break the Illinois state record for career steals.

    Schrader with two offers

A blurb in the Chicago Sun Times mentions junior Lindsay Schrader of Chicago Bartlett, a 6'0 forward averaging 21 points per game, has offers on the table from Illinois and Notre Dame. She was just recently released from the hospital after suffering internal abdominal bleeding doctors think might have been caused by one of several hard falls she took in a game last Friday.

One scholarship left for Class of 2005

With the medical redshirting of Aya Traore and the oral commitment from junior Jodi Howell, the staff only has one scholarship remaining for the Class of 2005. Barring any academic losses or transfers, of course. What this means is the staff will have the luxury of narrowing their list of 2005 prospects, while freeing up more time to scout this year's high school sophomore class.

Assuming Purdue fills the remaining 2005 scholarship, that still leaves the program with five available scholarships for the Class of 2006. Amber Harris of Indianapolis is already seeing heavy attention by Purdue, as she favors both the Boilers and Tennessee. Also known to be getting some attention are 6'2 post Brittney Moore of Merrillville, 6'2 forward Myia McCurdy of Cincinnati, 6'0 forward Laura Bugher of Indianapolis, and 5'6 point guard Fahkara Malone of Evansville.

A visual illustration of the scholarship breakdown can be found here on the Old Gold Free Press site.
