    2004: Tye Jackson

After losing the first game of the season to Dulles, Westfield has won five straight including the Monday night matchup with Barbers Hill. Tye Jackson hit for her season high in that first loss when she scored 24 points. Through six games, Jackson is averaging just over 16 points per game.

    2005: Stephanie Lynch

Junior Stephanie Lynch, a 6'3 forward from New Albany -- the same high school that brought the world Kennitra Johnson -- is a very solid, all-around player and athlete who excels in both basketball and volleyball. Lynch has been name All-American honorable mention by Street & Smith.

New Albany's season opener was a 70-point blowout of Providence. Lynch scored 20 points on 7-of-9 from the floor, 3-of-4 from the line, and hit her only perimeter shot. She also added seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and five blocked shots.

The following evening, Lynch went quiet offensively in a 53-39 win over Corydon. Scoring only five points, Stephanie grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots.

Through two games, Lynch is shooting 9-of-11 (.818) from the field, is 4-of-8 (.500) from the line, and 1-of-2 (.500) from the perimeter. She leads New Albany in rebounds, blocks and steals, and is the team's second leading scorer.

    2005: Leah Phillips

Leah Phillips scored 31 points in a 79-69 win at Martinsville. Castle High is 4-0, while Martinsville suffered their first loss of the year. Last week against Evansville Bosse, Phillips scored 17 points and had five steals.

    2006: Fahkara Malone

Fahkara Malone scored a game-high 19 points in a 47-38 win over Jasper. Evansville Memorial is currently 2-0.

    2006: Melissa Lechlitner

St. Joseph's is off to a 2-1 start and the No. 2 ranking in Class 3A. Melissa Lechlitner, proving as a freshman she was going to be a special player, has upped her current scoring average from the 14.4 per game her freshman year.

On Friday, Lechlitner had her best all-around showing of the early season, posting 20 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals. St. Joe's defeated Elkhart Memorial 73-54.

The first loss of the season came a week ago on Tuesday, when Penn hosted and beat St. Joe's 61-57. Lechlitner had a game-high 21 points.
